Herkimer – Mr. Milan Kucerak, 79, of Herkimer, passed away, Sunday, June 3, 2018 in his home with his family by his side.

 

He was born in Stark, New York on January 5, 1939, the son of the late Paul and Elizabeth Gasper Kucerak. He attended Van Hornesville schools and graduated from Van Hornesville High School with the class of 1957. He was married to Dawn Young on June 25, 1960 in St. Francis De Sales Church, Herkimer. Milan served in the US Army during the Vietnam War in Sprangdalhamm, Germany with the 6th Artillery Battalion and was Honorably Discharged on May 23, 1964. Following his military service, Milan was a Sales Associate for Agway in Lyons Falls, in 1965, he worked at GLF and later Agway for 48 years. In 2000, Agway was sold and he was with Aubuchon for several years. Everyone who knew him, knew he was a caring and kind friend whose hard work and dedication will leave those behind missing him. In Milan’s leisure time, he was a NASCAR fan and he and his wife, along with their special friends, James and Gaby Hunter would go to several NASCAR races. He was very active in helping new snowmobile clubs to form and he himself was an avid snowmobiler. He attended both Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and St. Francis De Sales Church and was a member of the Herkimer Elks.

 

Milan is survived by his beloved and dedicated wife, Dawn; one daughter and son in law, Melinda and Eliot Stein of Basking Ridge, NJ; two sons and one daughter in law, Milan Kucerak of Herkimer and Matthew and Tracey Kucerak of Schenectady; his granddaughters, Victoria Kucerak, Patricia Kucerak, Angelina Kucerak, Brianna Stein and Courtney Rose Stein; his grandson and “his special boy," Luke who is very near to his heart; his great granddaughter, Reilly Sage Kucerak; special Godchild, Shane Kucerak; his in-laws, Phyllis Moffett of Ohio, Sharon Camardello of Pompano Beach, FL, Duane “Cy” Young and his wife, Barbara of Little Falls, Jack Young and his wife, Jeanette of Ilion, Darrell (Jim) Young and his wife, Patty of Little Falls, Neil Young of Herkimer, Francis P. Young of  Mohawk, Dale McCaw of Mohawk, Darlene Reynolds of Herkimer, Terry Kondratowicz of Mohawk, Jill Young of Herkimer, Frank and Ronnie Dauback of Herkimer, Ronald George of Mohawk and Harry Lynch of Gray and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, George Kucerak, John Kucerak and his half-brother, Steve Kucerak.                                

His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 10:15 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and at 11:00 at St. Francis De Sales Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the V. Rev. Mark Cunningham. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 4-8 PM at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home. Members of the Herkimer Elks will meet Wednesday evening at 6:30 at the funeral home for services.

 

Milan would like to thank the very special family and friends who have been with him to help during these very hard and long years.

 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Milan’s memory may be given to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway # 1509, New York, NY 10018. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
